GROUP TASK 3_SEPTEMBER 21, 2025

Discuss each.

1. Approaches - approach is a broad way or general idea of how teaching and learning should happen. It is like the teacher’s overall philosophy or belief about how students learn best. An approach guides the methods and strategies used in the classroom.

Example: Instead of just lecturing, the teacher lets students work in groups to solve problems, share ideas, and present their work.

2. Methods -A method is the structured plan of how teaching will be carried out, guided by the approach. It is more specific and systematic.

Example: The Direct Method in language teaching, where teachers use only the target language without translation.

3. Strategies: In teaching, strategies refer to the methods and techniques a teacher uses to instruct students. These are carefully designed to facilitate learning, promote engagement, and achieve specific educational outcomes.

Example: Active Learning: Engaging students through discussions, group projects, and hands-on activities.

4. Techniques - A technique is the specific way a teacher carries out a teaching method or strategy in the classroom. It is the actual “move” or “tool” the teacher uses while teaching. Unlike approaches (broad beliefs), methods (structured plans), and strategies (overall actions), techniques are concrete, hands-on activities or steps that happen during the lesson. Techniques can vary depending on the subject, the topic, and the students’ needs.

Example: If the teacher is using the Active Learning Strategy, one technique could be “Think-Pair-Share.” In this technique, the teacher asks a question, students first think quietly on their own, then pair up with a classmate to discuss their thoughts, and finally share their answers with the whole class.
